Kau tinggalkan takhta, mahkota,
Datang ke dunia bagiku;
Namun tiada tempat di Betlehem,
bagi k’lahiran kudus-Mu.
Masuk hatiku, O Yesus,
‘ku ada tempat bagi-Mu.
Sorga gempita
m’laikat bernyanyi,
Masyhurkan kebesaran-Mu,
Namun Kau datang
dan lahir di dunia,
dalam kehinaan.

Serigala punya liangnya,
burung punya sarangnya,
Namun perteduhan
Put’ra Allah
di padang gurun Galilea.

Tuhan Kau datang
dengan Firman-Mu,
untuk bebaskan umat-Mu,
Namun cercaan
dan mahkota duri,
Kau tanggung di Kalvari.

Kelak di sorga
gegap gempita
rayakan kemenangan-Mu.
Biarlah kudengar
Kau panggilku pulang,

Thou didst leave Thy throne and Thy Kingly crown,
when Thou camest to earth for me;
but in Bethlehem’s home was there
found no room for Thy holy nativity.

Heaven’s arches rang
when the angels sang,
Proclaiming Thy royal degree;
But of lowly birth
didst Thou come to earth,
